Tracking ChatGPT Instant Checkout Orders for API Merchants

For API-based merchants using ChatGPT Instant Checkout with Agentic Commerce, orders can be passed server-to-server into Elevar and routed to configured destinations.

How It Works:

When a customer completes a purchase using ChatGPT Instant Checkout (API-based implementation):

  • The order is created via ChatGPT using the Agentic Commerce Protocol.
  • Order details are securely sent to the merchant’s backend.
  • Your server sends a server-to-server dl_purchase event to Elevar using the API Source endpoint.
  • The dl_purchase payload includes a sales_channel value that identifies the order as ChatGPT Instant Checkout.
  • Elevar processes the order and routes it to your configured analytics and advertising destinations.
  • Your destinations can apply channel-specific attribution rules based on the sales_channel value you provided.

Requirements:

To track and attribute ChatGPT Instant Checkout orders for an API-based implementation, you must meet both requirements below:

  • Implement Server-to-Server Events (API Source): You must send events from your server to Elevar using the API Source. This enables Elevar to receive the purchase event server-side.
  • Send a unique sales_channel value in the Purchase event payload: In your server-side dl_purchase event, you must include a unique sales_channel value that identifies ChatGPT Instant Checkout orders (for example: chatgpt, chatgpt_instant_checkout, or your preferred naming).
    • This sales_channel value is what you will use later in your destination settings when you customize attribution “by channel”.
