Enable Shopify Source and Configure Pre-Built Tag

Learn about Consent Mode and enabling Shopify Source and configuring Pre-Built Tag.

Overview

In order to setup Consent Mode, we'll need to start by enabling Consent Mode in our Shopify source and then configuring the pre-built consent tag.

Cookies are unquestionably the past, the present, and the future of online data privacy.

Elevar's Consent Mode in compatible with CookieBot, OneTrust, Pandectes, and Consentmo. This setup allows you to add your Consent Banner onto your website and provides a building block for your server-side tracking to listen for a shopper's consent. After importing them, you'll be able to customize your consent rules per marketing destination

Warning: Do not use OneTrust's auto-blocking with Elevar's Consent Mode.

If you enable auto-blocking, Google Tag Manager will be blocked from loading unless a shopper has accepted all cookies. Therefore any logic you setup with Elevar's Consent Mode will not work if the shopper accepts some cookies or no cookies.

Prerequisites:

You will need to install the Shopify source within the Elevar App to use the consent mode feature.

If you haven't already signed up for a consent provider please do so now:


Enable Consent Mode in the Shopify Source

Navigate to Shopify Source:

  • Begin on your Elevar homepage and use the left-hand menu to click on the "My Tracking" tab.
  • Locate and click on the "Shopify" source.

Enable Consent Mode:

  • Locate the "Setup Steps" box and click on the "Consent Mode" tab.
  • Navigate to the "Would you like to enable our Google Consent Mode integration?" section of the page and click on the "Yes" button to enable Consent Mode.

Consent Mode can block all data from being sent to your marketing destinations if set up incorrectly.

This setup requires advanced knowledge of Google Tag Manager consent and how your CMP integrations with your website.

Set Up Your Consent Integration:

  • Once you have accepted Consent Mode, navigate to the section of the page titled "Set Up Your Consent Integration".
  • Follow the guides linked below or in app for your specific consent integration.
  • Once you've completed any steps specific to your consent provider, click on the "Mark as Complete" button at the bottom of this section.

Select Fallback Consent Options:

  • When no consent is provided you may wish to provide default consent selections for your server-side events to fallback on. If no selections are made here, server-side events will be ignored when no consent is provider.
  • If selections are made here, we will assume that the selected options have been provided when consent has been captured.
