Understanding Destination Limits
Overview
Follow this guide to learn more about destination limits. Elevar supports multiple destination connections so you can send tracking data to different marketing and analytics platforms. There are limits on the number of destinations that can be configured, as well as additional restrictions for certain marketing channels that only allow one tracking pixel on a website at a time.
Understanding Destination Limits
Global Destination Limit:
Elevar supports up to 100 total destination instances per account. This limit applies to the total number of destinations configured across all destination types. For example, the total of all Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, Pinterest, and other destinations combined cannot exceed 100 instances. This limit exists to ensure stable performance and consistent event delivery across all configured destinations.
Destination Limits with Shopify Markets:
When Shopify Markets are enabled, destinations can be assigned to specific market groups. This allows different regions to send data to different destination accounts if needed. In most cases, multiple instances of the same destination can be created and assigned to different market groups. However, some destinations have additional restrictions due to how their tracking pixels work.
Destinations That Only Allow One Pixel:
Some marketing platforms only allow a single tracking pixel to exist on a website at one time.
This is a limitation of the marketing channel and not a limitation created by Elevar.
Destinations with this restriction include:
- Awin
- Outbrain
- Taboola
- Snapchat
- Aspire
- RTB House
Because these platforms only support one pixel, Elevar prevents multiple instances of the same destination from being applied to the same market group.
How Single Pixel Destinations Work with Market Groups:
When Shopify Markets are enabled, multiple instances of these destinations can be created, but each instance must be assigned to a different market group.
Rules for single pixel destinations:
- Only one instance of the destination can be assigned to a market group
- A market group cannot be selected for more than one instance of the same destination
- This prevents more than one pixel from loading on the website at the same time
Example:
| Destination | Market Group | Allowed |
|---|---|---|
| United States | Yes | |
| Europe | Yes | |
| United States (Second Instance) | No |
This behavior ensures that destination tracking remains valid and prevents pixel conflicts.
Why This Limitation Exists:
Some marketing platforms require that only one pixel is installed on a site at a time.
If multiple pixels are loaded, events may fail, duplicate, or be rejected by the platform.
To prevent tracking errors, Elevar enforces these rules when configuring destinations.
This helps ensure:
- Accurate event tracking
- Stable pixel behavior
- Valid data sent to marketing platforms
- Consistent reporting across markets
Related Limits
- Up to 100 total destination instances per account
- Up to 10 market groups supported by default
- Additional market groups available by request to Support
These limits may affect how destinations can be configured when using Shopify Markets.
