How to Set Up Smartly Conversion API via Elevar Server-Side Destination

Follow this step-by-step guide to launching your Smartly Conversion API integration!

Prerequisites

Install Elevar's Data Layer & Shopify Source on your store. Follow our guide on How to Implement the Shopify Source.

Step 1: Add Smartly as a Destination

  1. In your Elevar App, navigate to My Tracking > Select Add Destination > Find and select Smartly.

  1. You'll be taken to an Overview Page > select Get Started

Step 2: If applicable, Enable Consent Mode

If consent is required, follow these steps to enable consent mode & select your consent categories.

If consent is not required, select Save & Continue.

Step 3: Block Transactions

This step allows you to control exactly what purchase events are sent to Smartly. You can block orders based on Source Channel Names, Order Tags or Order Gateways.

Two common scenarios where you may want to block orders are: recurring orders & offline orders. Learn how to block these orders in this guide.

Step 4: Configure Subscription Settings

Do you sell subscription products? If you do, you can choose to send first-time orders only or first time + recurring orders to your marketing destination.

Step 5: Add in Your Smartly Bearer Token

Step 6: [Optional] Add in Customization by Source & Medium

By default, we send all transactions to Smartly.

If you'd like to only send purchase events when there is a specific source & medium value associated with those orders, you can add in a customization in your Advanced Options.

The Source Name is the "utm_source" value in the URL of the customer's browsing session. The Medium Name is the "utm_medium value in the URL of the customer's browsing session. [Learn more]

If you configure the above customization & choose to end recurring orders to Smartly. Only recurring orders with the associated source/medium UTM parameters will be sent.

Step 7: Go Live

Select Go Live on the Overview Page to launch your new Smartly Destination.
