This release includes the addition of new and returning customer value and shipping tier to the data layer, the addition of the subscription purchase event to several more destinations, and updates to improve attribution for email/sms destinations using the begin_checkout event. Reddit & Yotpo are officially out of beta! Plus the release of Aspire Private Beta integration (limited seats available) and CJ Affiliate is officially out of beta!
Data Layer
- New Value: customer_order_type value has been added to the dl_purchase data layer event. The expected values are "new" or "returning" This allows browser based events to have access to and returning customer data. When order count is not available we will transform this data and populate the customer_order_count with "2" for returning and "1" for new customers so any existing logic based on order count will have restored functionality. Note: This feature requires full user of Shopify's checkout extensibility including thank you extensibility.
- New Value: shipping_tier has been added to the dl_add_shipping info, dl_add_payment_info, & dl_purchase. GA4 web tags have been updated to pass this value to the GA4 for the standard add_shipping_info event as referenced here in Google event documentation. To see pass this value to your GA4 account access your GA4 destination(s) via the My Tracking section of the Elevar App, navigate to the Web Container setup step and follow the instructions to re-import and update your tags.
Destinations
- Yotpo is no longer in beta! It is now an approved destination. [How to Set Up]

- Aspire is now available ad hidden beta! Please let us know here if you'd like to be a beta tester. [Elevar's Fully Managed Server Only]
- Snapchat:
- Update to the latest version of the Snapchat server-side event API
- Content Type selection now available in app, this informs Snapchat what field in your product feed will match the ID you've selected to pass.
- Restores passing the snapchat click id for improved attribution
- Google Ads: Addition of web container step in app. Adding this web container improves enhanced conversion and destination performance. To add to your setup access your Google Ads destination via the My Tracking section of the Elevar App, navigate to the Web Container setup step and follow the instructions to re-import and update your tags.
- GA4:
- Additional payments domains automatically excluded from referrals. This maintains correct attribution throughout the checkout process when third party payment platforms are used such as paypal. Added payment domains are: twint.pend.ch & powerpay.pend.ch
- The shopify customer ID is now passed as user property shop_customer_id for server-side events. This better enables cross-device analysis in GA4. To pass this value with your browser web events, access your GA4 destination(s) via the My Tracking section of the Elevar App, navigate to the Web Container Setup step and follow the instructions to re-import and update your tags.
- Email/sms subscribe web tags are now set to default to fire once per page.
- Subscription purchase events added for more destinations! Now available for Microsoft Ads (Bing), Taboola, Outbrain, Voluum, and Google Ads. When this event is selected a separate subscription event for a first time subscription purchase. This event is sent in addition to the standard purchase.
- Removal of URL parameters from the begin_checkout event for the checkout link. This impacts our email/sms destinations (Klaviyo, Attentive, Sendlane, Postscript, & Yotpo). The parameters are being removed so that when these events trigger new campaigns and the new parameters are appended to checkout links appropriately track attribution to the latest campaign messaging and not the previously recorded attribution.
Platform
- Billing Address is now collected and stored during initial sign-up flow. For Shopify billed customers we will reference the billing address as recorded in Shopify, for other billing methods manual entry is required.
- Updates to the sign up flow to reduce duplicate company and website records
- Various text, image, and navigation updates
