Sources:

  • Non-Shopify Subdomains now supports multiple domains for subdomain attribution tracking!
    • Attribution continues to only be shared across subdomains not across different domains
      • shop.store.com will share attribution across store.com or other subdomains of store.com
      • shop.another-store.com will share attribution with another-store.com or other subdomains of another-store.com
      • any store.com page will not share attribution across any another-store.com page
  • Update the store connection to link directly to the store
  • Various link updates

Destinations:

  • Google Ads server-side destination
    • Merchant ID is now optional
    • Removed the Pageview event for Google Ads.
    • No longer able to activate the Google Ads View Item Event.
      • Google's API Team originally shared that their API has no rate limits. Now, they have informed us that their API does have a variable rate limit. To ensure your Google Ads purchase tracking does not get affected by this rate limit, we'll no longer allow users to enable the view item event only in the Google Ads destination.
      • If you already had the view item event enabled, your tracking will continue to work. However, we'll be reaching out to all users over time to migrate their view item tracking client-side instead of server-side.
      • You can help us reduce Google Ads rate limit errors by disabling your Google Ads server view item event and setting it up client-side instead.
  • Universal Analytics server-side destination has been removed.
    • As you may have been previously notified by Google: on July 1, 2024, Google Analytics 4 properties will have fully replaced Google Universal Analytics properties. From that date, Google will begin turning off all Universal Analytics services and Universal Analytics APIs, meaning Universal Analytics properties will be inaccessible through the Google Analytics front-end and APIs.
  • Destination Web Containers now download as .zip file. Once downloaded extract the folder within the zip. This folder contains a JSON file for each GTM container that applies to this destination. Import each of the files into the GTM containers whose ID matches the ID in the file name.
  • Audiohook has been removed as a server-side destination. We recommend using our GTM pre-built container for client-side tracking.
  • Updated destination considerations for Pinterest
  • Updated destination considerations for Partnerize
  • Various link updates

Reporting:

  • Conversion Accuracy Reports will only display the consent flag for a destination if the consent is enabled in the Shopify Source.

Data Layer:

  • Cart reconciliation now functioning with Shopify custom pixel tracking setup.
    • When enabled an add to cart event is triggered for product for a visitor that lands on your checkout pages with products in their cart that have not previously triggered an add to cart event for that session.
  • Data Layer Debugger updated to consider when dl_view_cart is trigger from the mini cart and will no longer display the bad event order warning when this occurs
  • Now storing Market ID
  • Prioritizing stored consent values

Event Builder:

  • Chrome Extension updates to include refreshed images, fixing of broken links, and removing references to Universal Analytics
